This fridge has 2 ice makers, one through the door and the second in the lower freezer drawer. Due to the way my family members load the freezer, the bottom ice maker gets knocked off regularly. Bottom line is the bottom ice maker came loose, the ice drawer filled with water and froze the unit. The only way I could get the drawer open was to defrost the whole unit or, - I performed surgery and cut the wires to the ice maker. Now I get the 8 E and 26 E error codes when I power the unit on. I can turn them off by pressing freezer and fridge at the same time.

At this point, I turn the lower ice maker off on the control panel and, I think I'm good to go temporarily. I'll have to do this anytime the unit loses power I assume.

I know I can replace the lower ice maker to resolve it all - don't want to if I don't have to.
Can you remove the lower ice maker completely and disable it somehow?

IF NOT

I'm not sure if the lower ice maker will be sent water if someone turns the lower ice maker on. If it will, what do I do to the hoses in the rear to block the water flow?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave
