The two front stovetop burner elements sometimes overheat; I will have them set on medium, then whatever I'm cooking starts smoking. My IR thermometer shows the element is 700° or higher! I turned the burner control to the lowest setting, and the element would go off for several seconds, and then turn back on even when set on low, and the temperature was still 650° or higher. The back two burners seem okay (so far). I found replacement burner parts such as Whirlpool WPW10275049 Elmnt-Surf - AppliancePartsPros.com but I think I just need the thermostat part - the block that the wiring plugs into, not the whole burner assembly. Is that part available? Would the diagnostic codes detect whether the thermostat part is bad, and how do I display the diagnostic codes?
