My washing machine won't drain although it does spin. I called sears and they said it needed a new drain pump. They have the part here but before i order it i want to make sure thats what i need because I thought that i shouldn't hear it working or humming if it needs to be replaced. Could it be anything else?

I am going to assume you have check the drain hoses from the tub and from the pump for blockage. Usually the machine will not work if the drain is blocked, so that is not likely the problem, but check again anyway.

See if you can use a meter to test whether or not current is getting to the pump when it is supposed to be draining. If it is then the pump is likely the problem.

If you buy the part from this site and it does not fix things you can return it.

Well you give me more credit then i deserve. I've learned everything i know about washing machines in the last 2 days and there is nothing in the manual to help. I've been thinking there should be something like that that i could do but i can't find any direction. Can you advise? thanks

I assume by manual you mean owner's manual. Here is a link to the service manual for your Frigidaire made machine.

Thanxs for you help. I thought i had it all figured out. Found a quarter lodged perfectly in the opening of the pump. Put it all back together added some water and it drained fine but then when I did a full load I still had my original problem, the water didn't drain completely. Now what does that mean?

Eithersomething is still blocking things or the debris has damaged the pump and it does not work at full capacity. Check the lines again and if they are clear try changing out the pump.

It did end up being the pump. Its fixed and I'm grateful for the help!
