I noticed the icemaker wasn't producing ice like it should and just figured I needed to change the water filter which had not been done in a while. The water line to the ice tray seemed to not be dumping enough water into the tray when I hit the manual reset. I did this which fixed that issue but in doing so I also noticed my freezer wasn't getting anywhere near cold enough to continue the ice making process. I emptied the freezer out and took the back inside panel off and found the top part of the coils were iced over... not a lot of ice but enough to where it was building up some frost on them and frosting the gap between the inner back panels. I ran the defrost cycle and also ran the manual diagnostics which came back with no error codes. I left an outdoor thermostat in the freezer and it won't go below 16degrees. Any thoughts and help would be greatly appreciated...

Is the compressor on all the time other than when the unit goes thru a defrost cycle?
If yes then it is an evaporator fan, a defrost or a sealed system problem.
In a defrost problem the evaporator coils get clogged solid with ice/frost.
In a sealed system problem there will only be frost in one are of the evaporator coils (usually where the freon enters the coils) or the frost pattern will be very patchy.
Also check to be sure that the evaporator/freezer fan is on when the compressor is on. |

The compressor doesn't seem to be on all the time. When I took the back inside panel off I only noticed a little bit of frost but I ran the defrost cycle anyway just in case. It ran for about 15 minutes and beeped the whole time. I had already put the panel back on when I ran this so I'm not sure if it actually defrosted or not. The Fridge seems fine. no issues there... The fans in the freezer run. I opened the door and hit the door switch and the fan definitely started blowing...

If the compressor is cycling as it should then it is a control issue either the temperature sensing thermistor or the control board. Also I am assuming that the evaporator coils are not clogged solid with ice/frost. Here is a manual which may help https://docs.google.com/file/d/0...Q1AxRE0/edit?usp=sharingYou will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download the manual. |
