evap coil was iced up bad took the back wall out of the frezzer, checked the defrost element got a reading of 34 ohms I asume its good
now i'm on the defrost sensor that is cliped to the copper line at room temp it is open=good? now I have put it in a cup full of ice to see if it closes so far nothing is this a way I can check it? next on to the defrost timer but on this unit it appears to have an electronic control board so checking it might not be an option.is there a way to check it? as I am typing this I still have not heard the defrost sensor close.I have my Multi meter on tone.
thanks guys you helped me fix another fridg earlier this year.:)
ok I think the reason I can't get the sensor to close is I cant get it cold enough freon gets super cold much colder than ice in a cup.this is what I think.
ok after Manuel defrost (with a heat gun) I put it back together working fine it hasn't gone into defrost yet but i'm gonna but a new sensor tomorrow when the appliance depot is open here. hope I dont have to buy the control board. update tomorrow.

The defrost thermostat should opens just above freezing so putting it in a glass of ice should close it.

Note that if it is deformed/bulged replace it even if it read OK.

Attached is the tech sheet.
It has the procedure for forcing a defrost cycle.
Be careful that you do not burn your fingers when checking if the defrost element comes on.

Note that the defrost thermostat must be frozen for the element to come on.

If it comes on then the defrost board is bad.
If it does not come on then it is probably a bad defrost thermostat.
