History: washer was making loud thumping noise on spin cycle. Unit then drained water but wouldn't spin, clothes saturated. Removed front panel. Unplugged unit, plugged back in and lifted lid 6x to reset; pushed button and inner tub would spin. Small light clothes=will spin. Heavier towels, jeans unit will agitate, rinse, drain, but when engaged to spin, outer tub lurches but doesn't engage; push button and unit wants to start but doesn't, push again, same, lighten load then push button again, will spin inner tub.
How do I troubleshoot problem from these symptoms?

yours is a bit different from mine but in looking at your setup the first thing i'd check is to see if your belt is wearing down.. it may be in tact enough to run a small load.. but as you say, large loads it won't move the tub.. on my model it would be the clutch.. but if yours is clutchless and you have a belt drive.. i'd go for the belt before anything else..

I could do that but remember after i reset the motor by opening and closing the lid 6x, the inner tub will turn. When tub doesn't turn, it lurches so it wants to but it's almost like a brake is on. I tried the clothes just to see if light load versus heavy load would have any impact.
