I have a frigidaire AC window unit:

  • 8000BTU
  • Manufacturing Date Code NZ
  • 115V
  • a Date listed 12/10, i'm guessing the manufacturing date Dec 2010 (which matches another sites estimate based on serial number)...

When I turn the temp down and the compressor kicks in, i feel cold air so i don't think it is a coolant issue. But when i set this room to something like 73, and set my other frigidaire window unit in another room to 73, this one does not cool the room as much.

The bedroom is about 12x14 approximately. I moved this unit from another room to this one so i didn't have to get a new unit.

Do these units have issues with thermostats sometimes?

Is it oversized for the room? Is there a way to test for this? I would think it would cool down quicker but i read something about short-cycling... would it help to set the fan to low (auto didn't seem to help)?

I cleaned the filter first to make sure i wasn't having an issue there. Is there a way to troubleshoot this and determine what might be causing the problem?

Thanks!
