I've fixed our trusty Maytag once or twice already. Replaced the wax motor and repaired the control board. Within the last few months, it has gotten horrendously loud, and recently started leaking. I knew it was time to fix it or pitch it.

I rented the Tony Tool and replaced the bearing and seals. I also replaced the rubber boot.

Got it all together (NO extra screws!!) and started it up. It started through the cycle just fine -filled, tub turned, and went to empty. It was then I realized I hadn't turned the water on! :o

Turned the water on, and restarted it. It filled, but then the tub wouldn't move!

I checked the motor control board, and the fuse is blown. I tried replacing the fuse, but of course it blew right away. I disconnected the belt, and put another fuse in and disconnected J4. When I press "start" briefly, the motor looks like it wants to start, but more makes a loud buzz but doesn't seem to want to start turning. I tested the windings at the motor and the control board and they all read 2.2 ohms. I'm familiar with brushless motors and how they behave when a phase is out, and it does seem like that's the case.

What the heck did I do? Was it just bad timing? Now we are faced with putting another $200 into it for a motor/board with no guarantee that will fix it. Everyone I talk to says to cut my losses. What do you think?
