I was given this washer because they "couldn't get the door to work". It gives you an error code that the door is unlocked.
the rotating cam is in the locked position, keeping the door from closing. I can manually do the door lock test through the service mode. I can hear the switch working, but the cam stays in place. reminds me of a car door lock that was manuevered when the door was open. Does that make sense? washer works fine if something is put in front of the door to hold it shut. You just have to go through the service mode, lock and unlock the door, then set it, and it'll run. any ideas? Can the cam be rotated back, or do I need to buy another switch?

Sounds like the switch is working since it passes diagnostics.
More like you have a mechanical latch problem.

Perhaps the following will help

well,I got brave, and looked to see which way the cam turned. I used a screwdriver and pushed it until it physically unlocked. It clicked so hard and loud, I was afraid I'd snapped it off, being plastic, but it seems to be working now. I figured if I actually broke the piece off, I'd have to replace the whole switch, but if I did nothing, it was going to have to be replaced, anyway. I didn't mind doing the diagnostic each time, but it was rather a pain! So, for the cost of a soap dispenser, which is weirdly missing, and a LOT of cleaning, I got a nice maytag neptune.
Now, if I could figure out what's wrong with my ge frontloader, I could bless someone else with a nice washer!
Thanks for sending me in the right direction!

On the GE problem, I would start a new thread of your own.

I did look up your previous post and saw that it was just added to another persons thread and the original problem was on a Frigidaire.
You may get a better response with your own thread.
Problem is that GE is a pain to get any info on but it is worth a try.
