During a normal wash cycle, at any stage, the control panel lights will flicker and then the cycle stops with the time remaining display blinking. It acts as though the Pause button was pressed. I am able to press start and it resumes only to randomly do the same thing 1 or 2 or 10 minutes later. Occassionally, the flickering lights are followed by a complete shut down where I have to start the cycle all over or select to begin at a later stage (rince or spin...).

These Duets are very difficult to diagnose. Look inside the lower service panel and under the top for tech notes, but the most likely problem is that your main control board is shot. See if the tests will confirm that.

After openning the top to start investigating, I discovered the ribbon wire had fallen down on top of the drum where it was constantly being rubben the wrong way against the concrete counter weight on the drum. This caused the plastic wire coating to wear off and eventually severed the one of the wires. I was able to repair, electrical tape wrap, and place the ribbon back in the clips. Works great again.

Well great, glad you found that easy fix and thanks for the update.

Good luck with the washer going forward.
