How does one clean the circular piece inside the stove fan. Can one buy a new piece or can the piece be cleaned and how?

I washed all the pieces.My concern was for the round filter which seems to be filled with some kind of granules. I wasn't sure if I could immerse that piece in water. However, I did and everything seems okay. Hopefully it will still work to eliminate odours.
