Item 5 is the check valve. It prevents back up from the drain.

I was mistaken, I have 9 in the digram and 5 is probably not the issue. I noticed that the inside rib on the plastic chopper protector cover is worn where the screen sets. Could that be an issue.? I would hate to pay $33.00,plus shipping for that small piece of plastic, if that did not solve the problem.

This sounds very unusual. I would try to run a white vinegar before order any parts.

Start the normal cycle with no dishes the dishwasher. After the dishwasher filled up with water, open the door and pour a gallon of white vinegar on the bottom. Do not restart the dishwasher. Let it sit there for about 12 hours, then run the cycle. It should clean the dishwasher from a hard water deposits.

The chopper is again clogging up every 2 wks. Could the check valve be the problem as it keeps the water from backing down the drain tube . Also on a previous post it indicated that the check valve ,item 5 was between the chopper assy and the impeller, however when I take the chopper assy off, I see nothing but the axle of the impeller that engages the axle of the chopper. Is the valve supposed to be there?. Is it also possible that the chopper assy is worn. Looks like the four tits on the white plastic chopper axle are worn. Are they supposed to be a square cut.

Item 1,on the diagram, the accumulator screen looks good.
What is item 5 on the diagram and how /where is it installed? Could that be an issue?
The diagram shows a protector as item 9. I do not see where I have that. Where does that go and could that cause a problem?

WHERE DOES THE CHECK VALVE GO? BETWEEN THE CHOPPER AND THE SHAFT? IF SO I DON'T HAVE ONE

I can not find where the check valve goes. I think this could be the problem and would like to order a new chopper assy and check valve but then wouldn't know where to install the check valve.

Most likely the problem is a bad chopper assembly or a bad pump impeller shaft.

According to the thread the check valve is located to the right of the chopper assembly. If that is correct, I have no check valve because I can find nothing resembling a black rubber flap. That is why I believe the chopper assy is getting clogged from dirty water coming back into the assy. I also intend to purchase the chopper assy, just for good measure.

If it's correct and the check valve is missing then you should have plenty of water inside the dishwasher while it's off for a while.
