Hi all,

So my wife put some kind of a tray (she thought aluminum) on the bottom of my mother-in-law's oven, and it melted itself to the bottom of the oven. My in-laws, in their zeal to remove it, peeled the coating off the bottom panel of the oven interior, and now are, needless to say, annoyed at us. And they are afraid we are all going to die the next time we bake a cake - or anything - in this oven.

Is this an easy or straightforward (and not dangerous) thing to replace? How do I find a replacement part and some useful instructions? The oven is a Kenmore, and I believe the model number is 79896419408, though I can't seem to find reference to that specific model number online anywhere.

Thanks for any info or suggestions -

This job is not too difficult to do it yourself, but the model number you posted does not come up. Verify and repost it.

Remove the screw on each side on the back of the oven floor (aka a bottom panel). Grab the panel from both sides, lift the rear part up and pull it outward to release the front. Assemble in the reverse order.

- The part number for the bottom panel is AP3731407
