I have a GE Profile dryer. Yesterday the drum jammed. I opened the top to access the drum, and I found out that it has a kind of rubber straps glued around it. One of these strap unbonded from the drum and jammed it. I was able to pull all the pieces off and have it working again, but the hole front strap is gone

Are these (there are two of them) rubber straps important? I can see them on the parts schematics, but they are not sold anywhere as a part, so what I really need is to know how can I get a spare. Of course I don't want to replace the hole drum just to get the straps back. Look the schematic. You can see the two straps, but they are not listed as a part.

Mito,

You are disacussing, the two "black" straps that are attached to the outer drum, correct ?

You are correct, these parts are not available, they are part of the tumbler, so you would need to order a tumbler, But,

These "straps" are not essential, for proper operation of the dryer. They are "sound deadening" material, to reduce the operating noise level.

You would want to make sure that all the "strap" material, is removed, so that it won't fall off and rest on a hot surface inside the dryer.

Good Luck,

Thanks Joe, you just confirmed what I thought.
Yes, I was talking about those two black rubber straps.
I'm kind of obsessive in keeping my stuff in factory condition, and I was hoping to get that stuff back in the dryer.
Any idea what the material is? If I can get it, even in a different shape, I can fabricate those straps and use some hight temperature glue to attach them back on the tumbler.

Mito,

I've checked with our resourse team, no one has the pads listed as a separate part.

You may want to try the local hardware store, with a piece of the old strap as an example.

At one point the pads were similar to roofing material(without the gravel) "asphaltic" pads.

Good Luck,
