My gas dryer quit heating. I replaced both coils. If I put outside power to ingniter it glows red hot, but the gas valve dosen't open. I don't know how to check flame sensor, seems to me to be the next step. Any addvise
Thanks

Clint,

Are you sure all the connections are tight and proper ?

Does the igniter ever cycle off during the test ?

To test the Radiant Sensor(flame sensor),

You need to check for a closed circuit across the terminals on the sensor with the wires off.

And check the igniter resistance the same way, unplug the igniter connector and check for 50 to 500 ohms resistance across the wires, you may have a weak igniter.

As a Last Resort, because it's a little Dangerous,

You could, loosen one of the wires on the Sensor, start the dryer, and allow the igniter to glow for 20 to 30 seconds and pull the wire off the teminal (with an insulated pair of needle nose pliers) and look for, or listen for the coils to energize and the gas to ignite.

If ignition occurs, you'd have a bad sensor.

If ignition does not occur, you've got a loose connection, or broken wire in
the valve wire harness.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)
