i purcahsed a new #9915 filter, removed old, tryed to install new one, I cannot twist it. I even put silicone lub on the end but unable to twist it

:) I purchased a new water filter for my 5 year old Kenmore fridge, I pulled the old by twisting one quarter turn clockwise, removed it, took the
cap off, installed it new filter, pushed new filter as far as it would go, tried
to turn both ways, it would not turn. What should I do.
