If my maytag MZD2766GEB refrigerator compartment is not cold but the freezer is working. Would it be the control assembly temp or adaptive defrost board that control the cooling of the refrigerator compartment. I am tryng to figure out if one of these two part I listed need to be replaced or should I look at another part. I have no icing on the freezer floor compartment but I have not checked to see if there is icing on the evap\heat exchange assemly, should there be icing. If I leave the refrigerator compartment alone for a while, the refrigerator compartment will start to work for a short period of time. Thank you in advance for your support and assistance in advance.

Is there frost or ice on the back wall of the freezer compartment(evaporator cover) ? If not, you probably do not have a defrost problem. Check the air return cover, located on the left rear corner of the fresh food compartment, behind the crisper bins, make sure the plastic flapper is not sticking shut, it should move freely. Part number: AP4069841
The most common problem with this style unit(other than a defrost problem) is a malfunctioning auto damper assembly in the top left corner area of the fresh food compartment / control area. Part number: AP4069713
There are several parts that may fail, and it is better to replace the assembly. Also check and make sure the end of the temperature bulb of the temp control has not been dislodged from the air flow, when you do the repair. If you need more asistance after these checks & repairs please contact us.

Hi Joe, I looked in the freezer compartment and found the whole heat exchange assembly iced over which I had to melt with a hair dryer. I notice that the heater & thermostate assembly never turned on to melt the iceing issue and did not hear any sizzie sound when I place a drip of water on it. So its safe to say I have a defrost issue and if so, should I replace the adaptive defrost board or the heater thermosate assembly, or both?
I also checked everything else you told me to check and it appears to be fine. How do I know if the blue plastic translucent cover is bad. I t seems to be able to move and not sticking.
Thanks.

Thanks. Well, at least we know you have a defrost problem. Did you check the defrost heater, with a meter for a closed circuit ? You may want to or need to replace all 3 parts, heater, thermostat, and ADC board. The air return cover flapper is good, as long as it moves freely, you don't have a problem there,or your auto damper now that you've found the evaporator frozen . Good luck ;)
