i have a kenmore gas dryer that the heat won't stay on but a few cycles then craps out and won't heat anymore.i have replaced igniter, and have checked the gas coils, and the flame sensor with a tester and they checked out fine.my i have not checked the thermal fuse yet,my question is if the thermal fuse was bad would it not heat at all?.because the heat does cycle on a few times then stops.any help greatly appreciated.

The thermal fuse is a non-resettable fuse that will shut down your dryer until it is replaced.

Try replacing the coils, good maintenance even if that does not fix things.

ok i put in new gas coils,it is still doing the same thing.the igniter will come on followed by the burner.it will run for about 45 seconds and then go out.it will do this about 3 times and then the igniter will not come on anymore.it it is a new ignitor also.frustration is setting in.the flame sensor checked out with good continuity...i don't know what else to.....any suggestions much appreciated

Well, frustration is certainly justified.

It sounds like you have some type of electrical short in the gas ignition system, a short that is triggered by heat from when the gas system does ignite. This is very frustrating, and you cannot trace it since you will have continuity when the system is cool.

I can only suggest you try rewiring in there in hopes that you will catch it.

Darn

Try rewiring in the burner/valve area.

Since your burner will come on when things are cool, and since you can only test wiring when things are cool about the only thing you can do is start replacing parts until you fix it. This is exensive, time consuming and ends up with replacing parts that don't need replacing, so I am hoping a weak wire or weak connection that fails when things get hot is your problem, but I do not know of any way to fix things other than just replacing ones in the burner area.
