I changed the lower element last fall. Worked like a champ until the last few weeks. Now the oven (most of the time) takes a long time to pre-heat. Even if I use the broiler to pre-heat and set the temp to where I won't, it is a while before it will hold at that temp.

Is this a problem with the element? Or is it possible that it has come loose a little on my previous install? I am not afraid to replace/repair, with some advice, but I am the handiest of men at this.

Does the element get red hot when in use?

If it does not, check the element for continuity and make sure the wires to the element are not broken.

Thanks! Once I opened up the back, it was obvious what the problem was. The connector was fried.

You are welcome. I'm glad it was that simple.
