I own a GE side-by-side refrigerator/freezer (Model #:GSS25WGPE WW). It is 5 years old.

Recently, I have been hearing a relatively loud "whirring" noise which seems to be coming (intermittently) from the freezer section/evaporator fan. I've dismantled the freezer section to gain access to the fan. Nothing appears to be visibly wrong, though I wasn't really expecting to find anything.

This model appears to have the thermistor wired into the connecting harness. I've also noticed (now that I'm paying closer attention) that the evaporator fan seems to run a lot. I'm not sure if this is normal.

Do I have an evaporator fan motor going bad or something else? Any ideas and/or suggestions will be welcomed.

Thanks in advance.
