At times (not all the time) when the control knob is on low or med the element will get cherry red. It used to be just one (RF) burner but my wife now says it's all of them. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Each burner operates by its infinite switch on the control panel. Moist likely the problem is with a corresponding switches.
