Take off the front panel by inserting a screw driver or putty knife in the gap between the front panel and the top near the edges to release the clips that hold on the front panel.

Look to see if anything is caught between the basket and the tub, and if not try to determine where the noise is coming from.

The noise was coming from the water pump.

That is logical. Take it off and see if something is jammed in there that you can get out, if not replace it.
