washer was working fine then heard sqeel noise and smoke the belt was burt into. pulled apart washer to find cause. not sure what failure was ? transmission turns with little effort. the clutch has a coil spring with a pinn that rotates about two revolutions backnfourth . motor ok. I WOULD LIKE INFO ON HOW TO INSPECT AND TEST THESE PARTS.AND OR OPERATIONS OF COMPONETS. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFO.

Please check your Model Number, usually Maytags start with 3 or so letters.
