I have ordered part # 8558129 to replace 8270034 (a dishwasher soap and rinse aid dispenser). I think the wrong part was packaged (possibly by whirlpool). My old part has a rinse aid sensor and the new one does not. I found a post that describes this problem. Please see [FIXED] Kenmore 665.15933000 Dispenser replacement? - Page 2 - ApplianceBlog.com - Appliance Repair Forums

The rinse aid sensor part # is 8533381. With out this sensor there is a dangling set of two wires. I don't believe this replacement part will work as is so I have delayed installing it. I was told by a service tech that some one could call Whirlpool and verify if this is an issue. Note in the post mentioned above the model numbers were the same but one had the rinse aid sensor and one did not. Thank you.

Also, note the image on the website does not match the product shipped. It appears the image on the web site does have the spot for the sensor.

I did see your post earlier but could not find info or a tech bulletin on your specific unit.

I can tell you that the level sensor on dispensers for other units was discontinued.
It was probably causing more problems than it was worth so all new dispensers have a sight glass instead.

I believe this is also applies to your unit but cannot be 100% sure.

Thank you for your reply denman. The front of the replacement dispenser does indeed have a sight glass now. Is the sensor just to determine if more rinse aid is needed (i.e. it just turns on the "Refill Rinse Aid" light)? I was worried the rinse aid would not dispense correctly without it.

I did find this link for a similar part number (1060786). In the description, it says "Detergent dispenser assembly. *New Re-designed dispenser. Rinse Aid sensor no longer needs to attach to dispenser. New dispenser has Full/Add window to monitor rinse aid." I tried to post the link but the forum messes it up. It looks like the company it links to is a competitor.

Yes I am pretty sure that that it all it does.
I cannot see how not having it will have any effect on the rinse aid dispensing.

Thanks again for your help denman. I am going to go ahead and install this thing and see what happens. I will try to remember to post back if everything goes okay or if I have problems.

Well, I installed this thing and everything seems to be working fine. The rinse aid is dispensing (gauge has moved from full to half way after several uses). I just taped off the extra wire with electrical tape. The "Refill Rinse Aid" light just stays off. This all works for me. Thanks for all your help denman.
