My dishwasher is pumping the water out before the wash cycle.
My dishwasher set to normal wash runs water into the machine and then starts the pump and drains the dishwasher. The dishwasher make a sound as if it is washing but with no water. During the cycle water runs in again and the pump drains it again. The dishes are not getting washed because no water is staying in the machine. I need help to identify my problem.

Remove the kick plate. On the left hand side of the motor assembly you will see a solenoid. Check that it is in the up position. If it is up but is pulled down when you start a cycle then you have other problems. This solenoid is connected to a flapper valve in the housing. The flapper directs the water up to the spray arms (piston up) or out the drain (piston down). Could be it is stuck in the down position perhaps a spring has come off etc. You may have to remove and inspect it. If it has overheated and melted the plastic then you may have other problems with the unit. |
