I purchased a used Maytag Neptune front loading washer about 3 years ago. It has worked fine until it started making a knocking noise. It only made that knocking noise as the tub 'adgitated'. No other noises or anything else. It stopped working while washing a load of clothes. It will fill and drain water but the tub will not spin. I took the back off thinking it was the belt but the belt is in great shape. I can spin the tub with the belt and from the inside of the tub. I did notice a rust-colored spray and the pattern of the spray looks like it follows the belt movement. I would really like to get this fixed. Using a top loader now and the water bill really sucks! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Having a little trouble with this site, e-mail me if it's easier rwilderx2@yahoo.com thanks again!

Unfortunately this machine was one of the most troubled Maytag or anyone else ever made.

The symptons you described sound like a failure of several items. and because we are not present to hear the sounds it is almost impossible for us to give you any guidance.

The guidance I can give you is to continue with your top loader, because putting money into the early Neptune you have is just not worth the time and expense.

Sorry not to have better news. Good luck.
