Last night the washer stopped spinning.. it goes thru all the cycles- fills and drains. but the basket doesnt move.. therefore the clothes are very very wet.

Machine is more than 10 yrs old. Never have had a service call on it. Is this an inexpensive fix or should I start looking for new machine? I dont have problem fixing machine- if the cost will be quite a bit less than new machine.. Any suggestions?

Well Whirlpool makes most Kenmore washers but I hate to answer about Whirlpool and it turns out to be something else. We always need the model number especially on Kenmore. The model number should be near or in the lid.

Ok it is made by whirlpool. The coupling is most likely broken this page will describe how to remove the motor http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/Whirlpool-washer-disassembly.html Once the motor is removed you can access the coupling.
