You need to find out what caused your motor to fail.

Well with further investigation, and not getting the agitator off, I unplugged the wires from the motor and found that it is burnt. since the belt moves freely I am thinking that it is the wiring. Can that be replaced?

Straight up. You may have some success if you can get something like a tie-down strap under it. Just try to avoid using a hard prying tool. You don't want to break the agitator.

It just pulls straight up?

You need to pull the agitator off. It can resist your efforts. Best to have a little help lifting it off the shaft; be careful not to let it smack you in the face.
