You are welcome Glad it worked out
Enjoy the hero worship. After 40 years of marriage the best I can get is usually a couple hours before something else breaks or I mess it up somehow.
PS: She was just in the background telling me that I have a bad attitude probably why my hero worship time is the minimum.
have a good one

Denman Thank you so much for your reply. Your first hunch was right. I couldn't find the thermal fuse on the parts list either. But with your description I found the thermal fuse (white as you described) removed it and shorted the wires together and it started right up. I fully understand we will not operate the dryer further until I replace that fuse. By the way, my wife, who knows she did not marry anything close to a handyman thinks I am some sort of hero. Thank you again. Mort

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL WED5860SW0 29"electric Dryer | AppliancePartsPros.comAnd the wiring diagram http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Wiring%20Sheet%20-%203406661.pdfSeems to be a problem as the wiring diagram does not match the parts listing. The diagram shows a thermal fuse in the motor circuit while the parts does not. If there is a fuse it will be mounted on the blower assembly. Usually white. Unplug the dryer and one wire at the fuse. Check it with a meter should be 0 ohms. Jiggery pokery method, if you do not have a meter. Unplug the unit Remove both wires from the fuse and short them together. Tape them up so they cannot short to anything. Plug the dryer in and give it a try. If it starts, replace the fuse ASAP as it is a critical safety device which prevents lint/house fires. If it is blown be sure to check/clean your vent system as this is the most common cause of it blowing. If there is no fuse then after the door switch the next device to check would be the push to start relay contacts.

First thing I'd check is the door switch.

Dryer will not operate. Light inside still works. If timer is rotated to on position dryer ticks but will not come on when start button is pushed.
