I have the same problem with my Viking six burner cooktop. The igniter for the front center will not stop even when lit. I have traded all the topside components with another burner. I have traded igniters with other burners, and have traded the wiring (in pairs) from the ignition module to different outputs with no change. I have traded the wire from the module to the igniter, and I have traded microswitches on the knobs from one burner to another. Still no change. The whole thing has been apart numerous times, so I am reluctant to believe it is a grounding problem. The stove has been in use about two years without trouble, so the polarity in the plug should not be the cause. Anything else to try before calling a service tech?

I am not sure where the micro switches are. Are they at the valve (ie the knobs) or somewhere else?

Its possible one or more of the micro switches on the valve have gotten wet from a spill over.

new post old problem. I have replaced my spark module with the second new one in two weeks with the same results. When the gas is turned on the igniter sparks but will not stop when the burner is lit. If I turn all four burners on then the igniter will stop the spark. I have confirmed correct polatity on the line feed and the neutral wires. I have also cleaned all four igniters ( they had a small amount of carbon on them) as well as checked the burner caps for correct placement. What part of the system tells the spark module that the burner is lit. All oter items seem to be in place. Can you help me diagnose this problem.:confused: thanks Tommy
