Vikas11111, it is likely that the compressor of the unit is having trouble starting up initially either from a winding weakening, the piston starting to get locked up, or the capacitor(if applicable) is the cause of failure. The three clicks are the relay opening and closing to provide voltage through the compressor circuit to get it started.

"I have a 1.5 Ton Sanyo Window AC (Made in Japan) which is more than 20 years old. It still runs with Perfect Fast Cooling & Silently !!!. I had only got it serviced 4 times in total in the past 22 years !!!. Each service after 5 years. For the First Time since so many years it has started an issue. After reaching the desired room temperature the Compressor gets switched off (That is fine). But the issue is after about 2 to 3 minutes when the Compressor restarts then it is unable to restart for @ 3 attempts by the AC itself within a time period of 15 seconds with a clicking sound. In the fourth attempt the Compressor invariably starts again and this cycle continues till we keep the AC on. So it works like this but the question is as specified above “Why the Compressor needs 3 attempts (Each with one clicking sound) and it starts after @ 15 seconds in the 4th attempt for every cycle”

Please answer.

With Thanks & Best Regards,
Mr. Vikas Kulkarni.
