Happy New Year to all!
A fairly new Kenmore Elite front-loading washer-dryer set came with our home of four years. My washer is model 110.47711800.
Recently I was wiping down the outside and the door, and I noticed some severe dirt and discoloring inside. Rolling back the rubber door seal that is mounted on the front chassis, it looks like the lower half-arc of the lip of the "tub" (the fixed cylinder inside which the internal agitator/drum spins) is filthy, discolored, and smells. I don't have any problem with clothes, the washer works great. But this filth on the tub lip suggests to me that something is wrong, and I'd like to clean it. I cannot imagine the cleaning pods sold on this site will work, given that daily clothes detergents and bleach haven't done much.
Has this problem been seen before? What is a cause for the dirt collecting on the lower lip of the tub? How can I clean it without a complete disassembly?
Thanks for your time & expertise.
