I have a Kenmore washer and recently replaced the agitator dogs. When I removed the agitator top I noticed the agitator bolt washer looked old and possibly cracked. I would like to replace this simple rubber washer but the parts diagrams do not agree with what I have in my machine.

I have a square drive plastic "nut" atop the agitator bolt which is a spring retainer. You remove this with a 1/2 in square drive socket extension. The agitator bolt beneath has a threaded stud protruding from its top to accommodate this plastic spring retainer. None of the parts diagrams (here at APP or at Sears) show this arrangement.

I have found reference that this is a "later" arrangement of this particular model, but I have found no parts diagrams or listings showing it. The parts diagrams I have found show the washer as part no 3946995 however the photos of that part show a washer which is flat on both sides while the one in my machine is slightly cupped.

Can I simply use the flat 3946995 washer or do I need another part number? If I need another part number does anyone know where to find it on a parts diagram?

Thanks
