Exact same thing here. I was looking to see if there was a recall no. Looking to see if others had the same problem. Now what? Has anyone here in this forum complain to the consumer protection bureau? All of you that called Maytag answered that question for me. Sounds like it'll be a waste of my time. The assurance people thru Lowes terrible insurance company! They wouldn't even submit the hinge nor lid told me it was two separate parts. They will however replace the switch catch for lead. I guess that's something. Still doesn't give me a working washing machine though! Maybe we can all get together and create a class action lawsuit? I'm down. How about anyone here?

Same😡😡
The plastic crap hinge is no longer on any of the models. Looks like they knew it was a problem. Have they or are they recalling them yet?
$400 fix is ridiculous!!

Same problem on less than 2 year old Maytag top loader!
Still happening and yet haven’t found any recall. Very disappointing.

Same problem, replaced 4 lids in 5 years. Maytag won't do anything, even with extended warranty.

My maytag top load commercial washer lid hinges has cracked also.( it's that plastic part)xjjqvRSq I have had this machine probably 2 yrs. I see lots of comments with the same problem. It has to be poorly made. I am going to contact maytag. I did register it when I bought it.

I replaced the lid after 2 years and it is broke again at the left hinge again maybe 1 1/2-2 year later. It is bullshit they do not stand behind thier products.

I think it is a systemic problem . the plastic is simply not strong enough to support the hinge/ lid. my machine has broken on the left hinge. I can't believe there hasn't been a recall , love to know how many of these machines have had broken lid/ hinge. tthe price to buy a repacement part is astronomical at $355.00 plus shipping and tax not to mention installation
