You can check the compressor easily, there are many videos on youtube showing how to do it. Check continuity and ohms between pins, easy enough.

My GE TFX24ZKB side by side fridge/freezer is not working. The condenser fan clicks on for 3 seconds then clicks off (Circuit breaker click maybe) and this stays off for 3 minutes before trying again. Bypassed the thermostat with no change. Ohmed out the defrost timer which seems fine. Manually indexed the defrost timer until defrost cycle started - heats up fine. Cycled it back to run and the condenser begins its on/off routine again. The Evaporator fan is running fine.

I think the compressor is not running. It does heat up when plugged in. If I maintain power to the whole fridge and just unplug the power going to the compressor, then the condenser fan doesn't even try to come on.

Am I looking at a bad compressor?? Something else? It is an older unit, but I was hoping for a $15 do it yourself resurrection.
Thanks
Tim
