I recently purchased a house that has the Whirlpool DU945PWSS0 installed. I'm not sure how old it is, but it looks pretty old and I think that it is hardwired. It seemed to work fine according to the house inspection report, but now that I own the house, of course it doesn't work. During that same inspection, the outlet under the sink was not powering the disposal, but now the outlet works. Any chance they are related and fixing the outlet somehow screwed up the dishwasher connection?

I wanted to test the dishwasher and run a dishwasher cleaner since it hasn't been used in a long time, but I noticed that none of the lights were lighting up and pressing buttons did nothing. I don't know of any on/off switch like with the garbage disposal unit (and I'm pretty sure it's hardwired since I do not see any other plugs in the area), and I toggled the dishwasher off/on at the breaker. Still, no lights or any response.

BUT then I realized that when I close the door, it does not seem to latch on anything. So it doesn't actually close securely and the door can open with very little effort. There was nothing to grab or release it just freely goes up and down.

So, I decided to shut off the hot water valve and I also turned the machine off at the breaker in the meantime.

Based on my findings, do you think I just need to replace the latch and/or lever assembly? I am thinking of DIY, though I do have a home warranty that came with the house, but I am waiting on the deductible details. I am not living there yet so curious what else I should try the next time I'm at the house.

I appreciate any info!
