My dishwasher won’t wash dishes.

I have narrowed down the issue to something electrical and the evidence I have to support this is:

1. Dishwasher works when I add water to it manually
2. Nothing is blocked, I have checked and cleaned everything
3. Motor/pump/drain pump etc all have power
4. When I flip the door switch, to cut the power, the drain will stop draining and the dishwasher will fill with water and continue on with the cycles as normal, until the next drain/fill cycles and then it gets stuck again unless I cut the power, and then add power again.

Issue: when the dishwasher is going through cycles it will start, full with water, slosh water around etc, drain ** this is where the issue is** when the dishwasher goes to the next part of the cycle, it tries to fill with water but the drain is stuck open, and proceeds to drain any water out of the dishwasher. Dishwasher then moves on to the next part of the cycle, but obviously there is no water in the dishwasher to wash the dishes. This continues until the cycle is over, and the dishes have been thoroughly cooked.
