I'd appreciate any thoughts related to this frustrating issue. The ice maker is making ice and there is water being dispensed it hasn't failed, but yesterday a rhythmic knocking sound started in the ice maker area. It went on for hours. In researching this I found it's a common issue for Samsung and French Door refrigerators with the ice thru the door, but it seems that no one has narrowed down the fix. The main theory appeared to be ice build up. The ice does get jammed in the bucket and does clump together but I've been shutting it off when the bin is full and restarting it when we need more ice. Here is what I have done thus far. I first removed and emptied the bucket and closed the refrigerator door. The knocking continued. I opened the door and put a blow dryer into the ice compartment and the knocking stopped. I replaced the ice bucket and the knocking started again about an hour later. I then removed the bucket and the housing, disconnected the wires and looked at the back of the ice house and there was no ice build up within the compartment that is visible. The bucket and the motor assembly have been out of the fridge overnight. I'm not sure what to check next before putting it back together in the hope that it was an ice build up issue. Thanks for any suggestions you might have!
