replaced the capacitor yesterday. cleaned coils. fan is running great. no problem there. all was well and this afternoon the clicking and humming returned. Fridge is running at regular intervals and is cooling and freezing, but has started the clicking and humming again.

Do I need to replace the start device as well?

Make sure your coils underneath are clean and the condenser fan is working.

Bought this side by side second hand in 2012 from a used appliance store. It was 2yrs old at the time. I has worked perfectly, but last week I noticed a clicking sound followed by a hum and then it stops. A few minutes later the click/hum thing starts again.

The fridge is working perfectly otherwise. It runs on and off as usual and everything in the freezer is still staying cold and the ice maker is working fine. The refrigerator side is also working just fine. Both sides are on the recommended factory settings and have never been changed.

I understand from reading similar stories on this discussion board that it might be a bad compressor starter but I have not been able on your web site to find the right part on your site. Is there even a part for my fridge available? Even Amazon doesn't seem to have one. Now what?
