I have a Whirlpool top loading washer (Model # WTW4900BW) whose Lid latch doesn't stay locked; it initially locks and then unlocks after 1 or 2 seconds. I usually have to change the soil level and/or wash temperature settings to get the lid lock to engage and stay locked so that the machine will run.

Is the lid latch the problem, and will replacing it resolve this issue?
