From what your saying I imagine that the washer is not draining or spinning, but will fill and agitate? If you manually advance the timer will it spin or drain? Does the timer advance itself although its not spinning or draining?

Hey, I have a direct drive washing machine (Roper RAS8445KQ0). It is stopping in the middle of the wash cycle and we smell a distinct burning electricity smell. The motor has been replaced, both the pump and the shaft on the gearcase turn freely by hand, and the pump is doesn't have anything in it that I can see. I filled the basket with no clothes in it and it operated thru a wash cycle no problem. The still minutes leading up to rinse had a grinding/crackling noise in the timer, but it did not stink of electricity at all. Any idea what's happening?
