I am new to the site and trying to repair an elderly lady's washer for her. It is a Speed Queen Commercial washer and started off with a load banging noise in the spin cycle. It scared her so she stopped using it. I took it apart as far as I could with the bell puller. I didn't have one of those. I took the inner and outer drums out and inspected all I could. I suspected bearings but they seemed ok. I decided to just replace the drive belt as that was in very rough shape and go from there. That seem to get rid of the banging but I still have a loud squeak and she does not like it. In the agitate mode it is a slow loud on and off squeak. Looks like the same speed as that brake unit? When spinning, it gets much faster with some clicking. I repair office equipment and know that noises are tough when you are not in front of them but I don't want to be spending her money going piece by piece either. I am guessing the culprit can only be the transmission, clutch, brake, bearings or pulley. It really looks like it is the same speed as the brake. I am not sure how that braking system works, could that be the cause?
