How many wires go to the switch? If you have a light inside there should be three. One is common, one goes to the light (NC), and one goes to the motor(NO). Do you have a wiring diagram? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vs3npVPY76g

Thought I had crossed the wires also so I switched them and still no go runs great when I tie the wires together and it does it hot it has one of those computer type boards could that be a problem?
