This older Amana has a two speed motor. It may be that the timer is not making contact to send power to the motor for high speed (regular and PP) but is still functioning on slow speed (delicate) cycle. Or it may be the motor is malfunctioning at the high speed level.
Another reason could be a broken wire or connection from the timer or to the motor.
The motor costs nearly $225 and the timer almost $170

my washer only goes through the spin cycle on the delicate cycle, not the regular or the permanent press cycle. the lid switch does click when closed.
