Yes typically indicates the valve not closing completely and weeps a tiny amount of water into the freezer and moves slow enough it continually freezes until it causes problems. Well, I did take off the water valve, and I checked it with my Ohmmeter, I think it was ab 196 ohms, so I deemed it OK. I DID see a chunk of ice in the maker under the fill tube, so that would account for the overflow, if thats what it was. The hollow cubes COULD have been air in the line I guess.
So...a weeping valve is a thing? Just replace the valve? Is that the likely cause?

Hollow cubes are a sign of low water pressure. My guess is going to be you have a "weeping" water valve. Is the fill tube frozen over? Could be that the Icemaker cup has a chunk of ice or frozen inside and causing the water to pour out over the sides when it fills. If it was frozen most likely a bad water valve is to blame.

11 Years old. Yesterday, there was water all over the inside of the fridge, the drip pan is full today, and it was leaking all over the floor from the door/drip pan. So I thought it was the usual suspect of a frozen/plugged drain line. However, the ice bin was full of hollow ice cubes, and today, I pulled the inside panel, and the drain line and pan is completely free of ice. However, there is ice all over the bottom of the freezer, and its really thick under the ice maker. On teh back, the white plastic 'thing' that the water line goes into at teh top is moldy, and its clear its been leaking from there as well. That line is tight and the clamp is solid.
What in the world is going on here? I can't see where its leaking.
I would like to re-iterate that the drain line and pan inside the freezer behind the back panel under the coil IS NOT FROZEN OR PLUGGED but there is ice on teh bottom of the freezer where you put your food.
