Done !! And boy is my wife happy !!:D :D
Thanks for all of your help !
I found the part locally for $29 plus tax.

I have never done it but I would say that taking it apart would be easier.
Do a test run with the old element just to see how it goes. Take a look at the sevice manual in my earlier post, Page 3-32

Is it easier to separate the tube to replace the heater wire ?
|
|
Exactly ! I'm going to look @ replacing the wire myself. Thanks for your help, and I'll let you know how it turns out.:)
|
|
Does not really matter other than you cannot fix the element and must either replace the complete heater or just the element/wire.

I'm sorry....I gave you a poor description.:o A section of the coiled heating element broke off, and was laying on the inside of the metal tube.:(

Is it just a bad heater ? Yes I would say so. What's next ? See if there is an obvious reason why it is touching the case re: an insulator has come loose etc. or has it just stretched and sagged over time. If nothing is obvious then I would replace the heater see below. Note if you feel able to do it you can also buy just the heating wire and re-string it see below. Doing this will save you about $55.00 Part number: AP4294043

I will check for a grounded element this evening, and let you know what I find.
