Sounds like you need a new clutch. You can usually just inspect the top of the drive block after removing the agitator and the metal clip and plastic washer from agitator shaft if it has them (only used if agitator has a fabric softener dispenser). If the slots in the drive block and tabs on the spin tube are intact and solidly engaged and the tub nut is tight and the tub won't rotate independently of the block, then the block is ok. Eric

I have a Whirlpool 110.15862400 it was not spinning the clothes dry properly. I could easily hold the tub from starting to spin or stop it easily with my hand. I thought it was the drive block but when I pulled the tub and block I realized I could grab the trans with a gloved hand and hold it from turning during spin.
This appeared to be a drive block problem until I pulled the block. Now that I know it is not the block, in the future, how can I diagnose whatever problem this turns out to be vs a drive block problem without taking off the tub.
