Something is contracting when the unit gets cold and is causing an open circuit.
Did you try a different bulb?
If you have the I would check/replace the light switch.

Model number is 596.73503200 and we did bend up the receptacle part but after the freezer gets cold the light no longer works. Originally Posted by: denman  I am not sure what type of bulb/receptacle you have as you did not include a model number.

Remove the bulb.
Look into the receptacle and you will see the center connector for the bulb.
Bend that up a bit.
Be gentle as they can snap off easily also be sure that you do not bend it over to the side.
Also check that the connector is clean.

The light stopped working in the freezer section - the bulb was ok. Took a blow dryer on cool setting to the switch and bulb section in case of condensation and put the bulb back in and it worked again. After the freezer section got cold again, the light stopped working again. As long as the dial is set to 0 in the freezer section the light stays on, but when set to the mid-range after a while the light stops working again.
