Thanks so much for the tips. We'll follow your recommendations to see what it might be and post back when we know!

The first thing I would do is unplug the stove power cord, turn all knobs to "off" position, wait a few minutes and plug the power cord back. See if it's working.

If it did not help then you have to check the gas solenoid for this burner (# 10 on the gas and electric parts break down diagram).

To access the solenoid you have to remove the top panel (remove all burners and knobs first).

Remove both wires from the solenoid and measure the resistance. It suppose to be 1760 Ohms ± 20%.

If the reading is wrong - replace the solenoid.

If the reading is correct then the potentiometer is bad and has to be replaced. Thermador redesigned this part and the new kit (consists of both new potentiometers and the simmer control module) has to be installed.

- The part number for the gas solenoid is AP2828839

- The part number for the potentiometer kit is AP3872616

Here are the break down diagrams for the Thermador stove Model SGCS304RW

Hi Gene -- Thanks for the quick reply. Thermador Model #SGCS304RW
The right front burner (with XLO feature) will spark and igniter clicks but no gas flows. All 3 other burners work correctly. This cooktop was installed elsewhere and just recently reinstalled in our kitchen and we smell the barest whiff of gas under the counter (nearly imperceptible) after attempting to light this burner.

Thanks again for any guidance you can provide.

bayomom,

Can you be more specific on the problem?

What is the complete model number of the unit?

The right front burner is clicking and sparking but no gas comes on.

Looking at the break down diagram I do not think the right front burner has the potentiometer.

Looks like this the regular ignition switch.

Before we will go further I need to know what's going on when you turn the knob "on"?

Does it open the gas?

Does it click?

Does it spark?

The right front burner doesn't wont light up. I believe the potentiometer may be the cause but not sure. Is there an adjustment screw or something to adjust the burner? I am not sure how to remove the Stainless Steel top to get at the inside.
