Hi.

The paper clip as a jumper...
This thermostat opens when the magnetron overheats. If it burned that usually means that the magnetron is overheating.
Why? Could be a defective magnetron or insufficient air flow through it.

There are several thermostats in the microwave, check which one is open and bypass it to test. Start with one on the side of the magnetron.

Simon,

Thanks for your suggestion. The thermostat over the magnetron is open and one of the connectors is burnt up a bit. I only had a paper clip to jump the wires and the microwave works and heated some water, however the paper clip turned red as a toaster filament so I shut it down. Should I just replace the thermostat or could there be another problem?

My Samsung microwave just died. Has worked well for over a year and a half, but after heating something for 6 minutes, the microwaved beep as it should when the cook time was up, and then lights out. No interior light, control panel, nothing. Check AC outlet, all okay, Pulled the unit off the wall, opened and both ceramic fuses were good. Does anyone have any idea what else I can check?
